Metric is hiring a skilled and motivated Production Baker to join our team at our soon-to-open all-day cafe in Avondale. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the foundational phase of our in-house bakery program, working closely with leadership to shape our bread and pastry offerings from the ground up.

In this role, you'll be responsible for daily production and quality execution, helping lead a small team through our initial menu launch. As we grow into phase two of our opening, you'll play a key role in expanding our product line and refining systems for efficiency and consistency.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare doughs, fillings, batters, icings and other components by measuring or weighing ingredients using graduated containers or scales to ensure uniformity.
  2. Measure or weigh flour or other ingredients to prepare batters, doughs, fillings, or whipped cream, using scales or graduated containers. Use tools such as hand mixers, electric mixers and cooking machinery to blend together ingredients to create high-quality baked goods.
  3. Cook prepared dough in ovens or on grills as needed, using molds, pans or sheets, depending on the proper baking technique for the item.
  4. Decorate donuts, pastries and other baked goods, including custom-made decorations for birthdays, private events and other celebrations.
  5. Coordinate deliveries to the bakery and buy necessary ingredients to ensure a fully stocked kitchen to reduce any downtime during the day.
  6. Perform routine checks on raw materials to ensure they adhere to high-quality standards and are not expired or damaged.

Production Baker Qualifications:

  1. High School Degree or Equivalent.
  2. 2 Years of Baker experience.
  3. Strong communication, time and resource management, and planning skills.
  4. Attention to detail, especially when performing quality inspections on ingredients and products.
  5. Basic math and computer skills.
  6. Willingness to work independently or with other team members to solve problems, plan schedules, fulfill orders, and create amazing baked goods.
  7. Flexibility to work around customer demands, including early morning, night, weekend and holiday availability.
  8. Ability to work in hot, hectic environment, stand, walk, bend, use hands and appliances, and lift heavy items for extended periods.
