- Maintains high sanitation standards throughout the area of responsibility
- Ensures organized and clean storage areas for all food
- Ensures that all food items are properly handled and stored at the conclusion of the shift Properly rotates inventory
- Prepares food according to specifications for breakfast, lunch, dinner and banquets
- Maintains clean and orderly storage areas and product pars
- Work with manager to create specials and other menu variations
- Perform various other duties as assigned
- Oversee and mentor kitchen staff, assigning tasks and ensuring proper food preparation techniques.
- Ensure food is cooked to proper standards, seasoned correctly, and presented attractively, meeting established quality and presentation guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels, track food usage, and report shortages to management.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Ensure all cooks are preparing dishes according to recipes and standards, ensuring consistency in flavor, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Identify and resolve kitchen issues, such as equipment malfunctions or ingredient shortages.
- Effectively communicate with kitchen staff, management, and potentially front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
- Help with other kitchen tasks like chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and cleaning.
- Minimum of High School education preferred
- Previous experience in a similar role required
- Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of food preparation health and safety guidelines
- Ability to work flexible hours and shifts
- Ability to multi-task
- Team player
