Pomperaug Woods is recruiting for a hospitality focused Temp Prep Cook to join our team! This position is responsible for maintaining a superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Prep Cook:

  • Assists production staff with preparation of ingredients for entrees.
  • Assists production in the preparation and service of various foods in assigned work situations including pantry items, soups, sauces, poultry and fish items.
  • Assists cooks in the preparation of basic dessert items as well as breakfast items for residents and patients.
  • Performs daily cleaning and sanitation tasks

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

  • High school diploma
  • Currently attending a culinary school or has worked a minimum of six months as a prep cook in a hotel, restaurant, club, or similar institution.
  • Skills/Certification: Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet. Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicates effectively, and performs simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
  • Certification in food handling (or within six months of hire)
