GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for supporting the Food Service Coordinator with kitchen operation by helping with the coordination and supervision of the functions of the Agencys Food Services staff.

ITINERARY

This is a 35 hour per week second shift position that includes Full Time Benefits.

Hours are 12:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. including weekends.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist the Food Services Coordinator in directing and guiding the food services personnel and all aspects of operations at the site.

Direct the food service staff at the site in the absence of the Food Services Coordinator.

Assist in the planning of preparation of breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner.

Assist in planning, preparing, and developing menus in accordance with nutritional requirements, budget limitations, and available supplies.

Assist in the preparation of a variety of foods including soups, entrees, meats, vegetables, salads and desserts.

Assist in set up, serving, and cleanup of food on counters, steam tables, and on other equipment.

Scrub tables, counters, steam tables, and wash dishes.

Dispose of waste.

Prepare beverages.

Sort and put away utensils and dishes.

Operate a variety of kitchen equipment, appliances and utensils in a safe manner.

Assist with inventory and verify expiration date on foods.

Help in preparing special set-ups.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Methods of cleaning and caring for kitchen equipment.

Perform duties in support of food service activities.

Push a food cart to and from a designated serving area.

Maintain food service equipment in clean and sanitary condition.

Operate basic kitchen equipment, appliances, and utensils in a safe and efficient manner.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide quickly and accurately.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

May be exposed to loud noises.

Work in direct contact with the supervisor, co-workers, NHTC clients, and other staff

May have changing priorities and interruptions

May work with moving equipment such as carts.

Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate with food service coworkers, supervisor, and other staff.

Standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma with experience in hospital or health care food services
  • One-year supervisory experience
