JOB DESCRIPTION
FT/PT Line Cook
What the job is:
As a Line Cook, you'll use quality ingredients to produce food that is both approachable and classic, but with twists that keep it fresh. You'll be mixing dough and baking bread, roasting veggies and meats, cooking jams and sauces, and serving picture-worthy toasts, so versatility, creativity, and an eagerness for new foods are a must. This is an all-encompassing kitchen production, not your average coffee shop food re-heat. This position involves interacting with fellow cooks, barista staff, and guests daily, and helping to facilitate an efficient and supportive work environment. We are looking for service-oriented people who either have BOH experience or have an interest in BOH kitchen work. This could a full-time position with an expected work time of 40 hours a week but we are also open to multiple PT positions with less hours. Shifts will be scheduled two weeks out. Shift flexibility is preferred, and some weekend availability is required.
Responsibilities:
-Prep food according to recipes, including, but not limited to, spreads, marinades, and jams, using a variety of equipment such as hand mixers, food processors, and induction burners, and be able to multiply yield sizes.
-Complete required trainings to ensure competency and safety when working with knives, automatic slicer, etc.
-Multitask between prep work and fulfilling orders through a ticketing system.
-Assemble meals to order according to plating examples and measurements provided.
-Batch produce ready-to-eat food for later consumption, including sandwiches, salads, etc.
-Weigh out precise pars of meat, cheese, and veggies for menu items using an automatic slicer and scales.
-Comply with food safety guidelines regarding food preparation, storage, and serving to avoid contamination.
-Wash dishes using an industrial dishwasher or a 3-bay sink before letting them dry and returning them to their proper spot.
-Clearly communicate prep lists and other needs for next day production.
-Receive and put away food and operational goods orders from vendors when necessary.
-Report any issues with food or equipment to your manager in a timely manner.
-Cross-train on register to be able to support the FOH during busier times.
-Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as a professional demeanor in dealing with guests and co-workers alike.
-Perform other small tasks (such as cleaning, stocking, etc) as necessary
Expectations:
Timeliness - Show up to work on time and prepared to start your shift
Cleanliness - Maintain cleanliness of yourself, your workstation and work environment as a whole
Safety - Be cognizant of the safety of yourself and others in regards to your work environment, especially with knives, the slicer, and oven
Hospitality - Strive to ensure the guest receives the best possible experience, whether you are in a customer facing position or not
Kindness - Be kind to yourself and your teammates

-Ability to lift up to 35lbs regularly
-Ability to stand and move around for multiple hours
-Have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for possible delivery aspects of position. Mileage is reimbursed for work-related travel.
