Qualifications:
- Experience working in a school kitchen or cafeteria preferred
Job Responsibilities:
Kitchen and Food Preparation (MB Kitchen): Assist with preparation of meals for the Outdoor Discovery Center preschool sites. Maintain food safety and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas. Follow established recipes and portion guidelines under the direction of the kitchen supervisor.
Inventory and Receiveing: Recieve and inspect weekly GFS (Gordon Food Service) truck deliveries every Monday and Wednesday. Verify delivered items against order involices for accuracy and quality. Safely store and organize incoming stock in designated kitchen areas (dry, refrigerated, and frozen goods). Rotate stock following FIFO procedures to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
Delivery Support: Assist the delivery driver with loading meal carts and food supplies for delivery to elementary school buildings and ODC sites. Ensure carts are correctly packed and organized for efficient delivery routes. Occasionally deliver on-site meal drop-offs (as needed).
Other: Work is performed primarily in a kitchen and educational facility setting. Regular exposure to hot and cold temperatures in kitchen and storage areas. Physically demanding job.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
- Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- The worker is subject to environmental conditions.
- The worker should provide consistent and reliable attendance.
