Job Description
The Shore and Country Club is currently seeking an experienced, full-time Broiler/Grill Cook to join our culinary team. This position requires evening and weekend availability.
The Lead Banquet/Grill Cook reports directly to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef and is responsible for the preparation and execution of all grilled and broiled menu items during à la carte service, special events, and private functions. This role requires precision, speed, and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality food standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and cook grilled and broiled menu items to order, ensuring proper temperatures, presentation, and portion control.
- Prepare and cook banquet menu items for events, buffets, and functions according to recipes and quality standards.
- Assist with event prep, including ingredient gathering, portioning, and station setup.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked grill station throughout service.
- Monitor grill station inventory, communicate shortages, and assist with daily food prep.
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety in compliance with health codes and Club policies.
- Assist in setup and breakdown of kitchen and workstations before and after service.
- Collaborate with culinary team members to maintain smooth kitchen operations during high-volume service.
- Execute special event and banquet grill needs as directed by the Executive Chef.
- Uphold kitchen standards for consistency, quality, and efficiency at all times.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of grill line cook experience in a high-volume kitchen or club environment.
- 2 years experience in banquet service preferred.
- Strong understanding of grill temperatures, meat temperatures, and cooking times.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen.
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and excellent communication skills.
- Culinary degree or certification a plus, but not required.
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays during the Club’s operating season.
- Has a passion for the culinary arts!
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to perform essential job functions with physical demands, including standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, talking, hearing, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
