Introduction:
The Cook at Phoenix Society is responsible forpreparing meals and following established recipes. Key duties include preparingingredients, adhering to the menu, and following food health and safetyprocedures. The position is required to cook, clean, assist other kitchenstaff, and deliver food in a fast-paced environment. The Cook ensures that menuitems are of high quality and distributed in a timely fashion. Also, from timeto time able to work for sister sites and phoenix food truck as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, clean and organize work stations with allnecessary supplies
- Prepare ingredients for the day; wash, chop and seasonmeat, vegetables, etc.
- Prepare and cook menu items according to nutritionalstandards with other kitchen staff
- Handle multiple food orders at one time
- Deliver menu items to clients as required
- Store and dispose of any food properly
- Ensure sufficient stock and inventory of food, suppliesand equipment
- Sanitize and clean work stations and kitchen supplies
- Comply with health and safety and sanitation standards
- Ensure that food is distributed in high quality and in atimely fashion
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Recent, related experience of six months
- Satisfactorycompletion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening isrequired
- Satisfactorycompletion of Tuberculosis Screening form is required
- Satisfactorycompletion of Employee Immunization Record form is required
- Firstaid certification with CPR is required
- FoodSafe Level 1 is required
