**Key Responsibilities:**

The main role of the dishwasher/food prep is to work side by side with the chef to ensure the food is successfully prepared in accordance to the restaurant standards and within the USDA, FDA and Health Standards of a commercial kitchen.

This position will prepare food as follows: Wash, slice or chop vegetables and fruit, prepare chicken, veal, shrimp, meat, other seafood, and ground beef as instructed by the chef. The chef may request the meat be browned, chopped, and/or seasoned. The chicken and veal may be sliced, flattened, breaded or floured, and seasoned. The shrimp will be deveined and tails removed. The seafood may be sliced, floured, breaded, and/or seasoned.

Assist with preparation or assembly of dishes and appetizers. For example, may be asked to assemble the lasagna by layering meat, pasta and sauce as instructed by the chef. May be asked to fry ravioli or cheese sticks and assemble them on a plate for distribution. May be asked to help heat the pasta by putting it in a strainer and putting it in boiling water for a minute before putting it in the pan indicated by the chef.

Responsible for preparation of to go salads which includes placing salad dressing in a to go container and filling a to go container with lettuce. May be asked to mix Ceasar salads and place them in a dish to go out to the customers.

May be asked to assist with making pizzas and garlic bread. May be asked to put things in the oven or take things out of the oven.

Responsible for maintaining the cooking utensils and pots and pans clean and ready for use by the chef and other staff. Must be able to use a commercial dishwasher and a three-compartment sink. Responsible for maintaining kitchen cleanliness including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting cooking and cleaning areas and food maintenance areas such as dry storage, fridges and freezer. May be asked to help clean the bar area which consists of sinks, cabinets, fridges, and storage space. May sweep and mop the bar area as well as disinfect surfaces. May be asked by the chef to assist periodically with food and supply inventory.

This position works various different work stations depending on the tasks to be completed. The following workstations and tasks may be required of this position.

3-Compartment Sink Area - Used to clean large pots, pans, cutting boards, utensils, etc.

Dishwashing/Commercial Sink Area - Used to wash the dishes and glasses used by clients.

Food Prep area - Used to prepare all food.

Salad Station - Used to prepare salads and store salad related items.

Food Line - This is the main cooking area. You may be asked to help cook items here.

Take out area - Used to package items to go.

Pizza Prep Are - Used to prepare, cook and plate pizza.

**Qualifications:**

- Proven experience in a similar role within a reputable establishment.

- Exceptional culinary skills with a strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures and/or willingness to learn.

- Ability to work with a diverse team.

- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under pressure.

- Excellent communication skills and customer-focused mindset.

- Culinary degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
