We are seeking a bakery/ pastry assistant to work under our Executive Pastry Chef and the Owner in our upscale French Bakery. The assistant should be a recent culinary school graduate, and will work Tuesday - Saturday 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. The job entails production and baking of baguettes, boules, croissants, and pastries; in addition, the assistant will work with the Executive Pastry Chef in the production and assembly of cakes, cookies, mousses, tartes and other desserts. In addition, the assistant will be trained on every position in the bakery. Holiday work and some overtime will be required; holidays include Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, Easter, Mother's Day, and Father's Day. The hourly wage is $17; no health insurance is available, but one week of paid vacation will be offered after one year of employment. This position requires the ability to lift 50-lb bags of flour; in addition, the candidate must be motivated, dependable, and on time.
