Meriwether Residence in LaVista, NE an Agemark Senior Living community and #10 in the country of Great Places to Work in Aging Service, is looking for a Full Time Cook to to provide consistently tasteful, nutritious and appealing meals/snacks, and promote healthy choices. NO!  You will not be serving pureed, mushy food!  We are looking for great, scratch cooked meals that are presented well on nice plates and served.

Full Time Cook position details:

As the Cook, the core of your job will be to provide a great first impression and amazing dining experience for all residents and guests. This includes offering the highest-quality, consistent and personalized service we’re known for in communities all across the U.S.

You’ll also be responsible to:

  • Prepare meals and snacks that are consistently tasteful, nutritious and appealing.
  • Assure prompt, cheerful food service to residents and guests.
  • Maintain a sanitary, orderly and safe kitchen and dining environment.
  • Assist with menu planning; review and adjust menus with Supervisor to accommodate foods in season, vendor prices, special events and holidays.
  • Alter or adapt meals to accommodate special dietary needs of residents.
  • Assist with ordering, delivery and inventory of food, supplies and equipment, as directed.
  • If required, meet with new residents as part of their orientation to dietary services.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
  • Maintain an accurate record of chargeable and non-chargeable meals, as directed.  Receive payment for meals/dietary services if required.
  • Meet with new residents to assess likes, dislikes, special needs, and explain services and routines.



Full time Cook qualifications details:

  • At least 1 year of prior professional food preparation and service experience required.
  • ServSafe certification required or able to complete in short amount of time.
  • Knowledge of food handler and safety regulations.
  • Proven track record of integrity
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Must be detail oriented and accurate
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, prospective residents, facility operations and personnel
