INTRODUCING THIS OPPORTUNITY
Primary Responsibilities : The primary responsibilities for this position include the following :
Deliver premier customer service
Interact with customers on a continual basis to relate talking points regarding the cooking technique, product details, nutritional information, etc. of each recipe while teaching classes
Work with Resident Chef and Store Manager to set goals and improve operations
Perform cooking/product demonstrations according to Resident Chef's specifications
Coordinate timely delivery of products from other departments including housewares
Merchandise products and build displays
Serve samples of the featured recipes and products
Provide customers with informational materials including recipes, order forms, brochures, and coupons as required for the cooking class
Organize and prepare for each recipe for the class
Shop for meal ingredients and report food costs for each class
Set tables with appropriate service ware, including wine service
Support media engagements by making appearances on local television segments (according to Resident Chef's instructions)and/or assisting with the Resident Chef's television appearances
Support off-site events by assisting Resident Chef with details of the event (i.e., setting up the cooking/demonstration area for the celebrity/guest chef)
Forecast special product and houseware needs and acquire supplies
Conduct research and develop recipes
Clean and sanitize the Cooking School and surrounding area according to Publix procedures
Follow all food safety procedures according to the HACCP guidelines
Notify management if equipment is not working properly
Reinforce security and safety guidelines
Assist in other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications : The required qualifications for this position include the following :
At least 18 years of age
Minimum of one year experience in the culinary industry and/or completion on one year of cooking/culinary school
Preferred Qualifications : The preferred qualifications for this position include the following :
Able to deliver premier customer service
Able to retain product knowledge
Knowledge of and experience in various cooking techniques and preparation methods
Able to learn and apply merchandising and sales techniques appropriate to the customer base
Able to read, write and do simple math problems and follow instructions and recipes
Excellent communication skills
Good organizational skills
Basic computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
Strong interpersonal skills
Willing to travel by car or air with potential overnight stays for special events or cooking classes
Able to work well with others and to be a team member
Obvious enthusiasm, initiative and pride in work
Compensation :
Paid weekly
Base pay: $9.00- $14.50 per hour
To reward associates for their contribution to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Year-end Cash Bonus in December. In the first and second year of continuous employment, the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through December 31. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks' pay .
