The Atlanta Botanical Garden is seeking an enthusiastic chef to teach and lead the daily cooking activities in the Sprouting Chefs and Junior Garden Chef camp during the Environmental Summer Day Camp. Cooking activities will take place in the Edible Garden Outdoor Kitchen and the Children?s Classroom. The Summer Camp Chef will report to work before each camp to work with School Programs Manager in planning the menus and activities. The Chef will work during Sprouting Chef camp for 4 ? 6 year olds June 21 ? 25 and July 26 ? 30 and the Junior Garden Chefs camp for 7 ? 10 year olds July 19-23. Responsibilities
The Summer Camp Chef will plan menus inspired by seasonal produce growing in the Edible Garden for each day of camp, shop for and prep all necessary ingredients for cooking activities, lead campers in preparing snack and lunch each day along with teaching them about food, clean up the kitchen as necessary and store away remaining ingredients and pantry items. Chef must conform to safe food handling, storage, service, and cleanliness requirements and part of each day will be spent outside.
Requirements
?Candidates must have experience in cooking with children ages 4-10; preferably experience in leading cooking classes with children
?High school graduate with a minimum of 2 years professional cooking experience and culinary training
?Familiar with subjects of sustainable agriculture, local/regional food systems, and the health benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables
?Preference will be given to candidates with edible gardening experience
?Food Safety Manager Certification
?Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
